Sultan Ahmed Mosque

Popularly known as the Blue Mosque because of the tiles surrounding its walls, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque was built around the 1600s under the orders of Sultan Ahmet. The interior of the mosque is truly exquisite as it is lined with 20,000 handmade tiles in tulip design. The rest of the mosque is painted in dominant blue paint. A trip inside the mosque is truly a life changing experience.

Pamukkale

Pammukkale or “cotton castle” is one of nature’s wonder in Turkey. The main composition of Pamukkale is travertine. Travertine is a by-product of the water from the hot springs surrounding it. The whole place is surrounded by limestone, which appears to be crystal-like in structure. Imagine dipping in the hot springs while being surrounded by white crystal mountain.

Istanbul Modern Art Museum

Istanbul Modern Art Museum, a.k.a Istanbul Modern that was inaugurated last December 11, 2004, features the works of artists from Turkey. It is usually close on Mondays and is open from ten in the morning until six in the afternoon from Tuesday to Sunday.

Patara Beach

Enjoy the soft sand and the shallow waters of Patara Beach, just be careful not to step on any sea turtle eggs. The beach is under the protection of the government to help preserve its pristine nature as well as the sea turtle.

Duden Waterfalls

Located in Antalya, Turkey, Duden Waterfalls is actually made from recycled station water about 7.5 miles north east Antalya.

Mount Nemut

Mount Nemrut is a 2,134 meters mountain located in southeastern Turkey. The mountain is thought to be a royal tomb and was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. People from all over the world usually visit Mount Nemrut from April to October every year.

Saklikent Canyon

Saklikent Canyon is located in Mugla province and is one of the deepest canyons in the world. It is 300 meters in depth and about 18 kilometers in length. Visitors enjoy the canyon during winter season when the water is usually high.

Hagia Sophia

Famous for its huge dome and Byzantine architecture, Hagi Sophia used to be a basilica church which later became a mosque and is now one of the most celebrated museums in Turkey. The museum attracts at least 3 million tourists every year. Hagia Sophia has been put under Museum Watch back in 1996 and in 1998 because some of its original structures are starting to deteriorate.
